Poor Spending + Lack of Planning = $1.5 Billion County Debt
We’re starting to change the equation, but we’re not done yet!
Trust
Transparency matters. As your County Commissioner, I’ve taken concrete steps to make county government more accountable, by sponsoring a resolution to record Budget committee meetings. Recording and publishing committee meetings leads to stronger fiscal management
But there is more work to do. I’m now sponsoring a new resolution to publish committee meeting agendas 48 hours in advance, so you can see exactly what your government leaders are doing BEFORE decisions are made at the commission meeting.
Complacency
Debt isn’t leadership – it’s a warning sign. For too long, many county commissioners have shrugged off our rising debt, or even claim it’s a good thing. But here’s the truth: our county debt is growing twice as fast as our population. With plans moving forward to fund a $330M+ juvenile justice center and new jail, our total debt is now on track to reach $1.5 Billion!
The rate of debt is not sustainable, it’s a burden to our future.
Planning
If we want better outcomes, we need better planning. Re-elect me so I can continue building the groundwork for smarter, more transparent decision-making.
If you believe in open government and responsible leadership, I need your support.
If you believe in responsible budgeting and smarter growth, it’s time to demand accountability. I will keep pushing for responsible forward-thinking solutions that control spending, prioritize investments and protect the long-term health of our county’s finances!
